We’ve Joined the IFSM (Institute of Fire Safety Managers)
Beacon Fire Protection is now an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), the UK’s professional body for the fire safety industry. It sits alongside our existing accreditations from ISO 9001, NSI, BAFE, SafeContractor and the British Fire Consortium.
What the IFSM does
The IFSM is a non-profit that’s been going since 1997. Their remit is raising fire safety standards through professional development, technical guidance and industry research. Members include fire risk assessors, safety managers, consultants and engineers across the UK.
They also run the Tiered Fire Risk Assessors Register (TFRAR), the competency framework the UK Government recommends for fire risk assessors. Our own assessors are already registered on that system, which covers more complex buildings like care homes, hotels and multi-occupancy premises.
What it means for our customers
Fire safety legislation shifts, British Standards get updated, building regulations evolve. IFSM membership gives us direct access to those changes as they happen, not months after the fact. In a county like Cumbria, where we look after everything from Lake District hotels to care homes and industrial units, that matters.
